Many safari lodges in the Kruger National Park build rooms of wood and canvas for the intimate bush experience. These lodges tread a fine line between rustic charm and cheap shortcuts; not so at Lion Sands River Lodge. Built along the Sabie River, the large rooms have polished screed floors and the decor is demure shades of cream and brown with smart, modern lines, luxurious furnishings and, in a concession to the environment, deep thatched roofs.

At Lion Sands River Lodge in your luxury en suite chalet, you are by no means removed from the wonderful African bush of Kruger Park. An enormous wooden deck wraps around your large room with a view of the bush through French doors occupying an entire wall. The en suite bathroom is simply regal with marble finishes, free-standing slipper tubs, designer vanity stations and an all-glass shower cubicle.

Everything, from toiletries to linens is five-star quality. And what’s more there is a luxury suite as well: bigger, better and totally private for the ultimate in romance and comfort.

The living area is generous and well positioned with a view over the river and into Kruger Park. Delightful wooden walkways connect all the living spaces to your room.

And we’ve just finished check-in. Now it’s time for a spot of lunch and a safari: two more great features of this luxury safari lodge to write home about. The rates include all meals, drinks, teas and snacks as well as your amazing game viewing activities twice a day.

Game viewing is excellent in the Kruger Park. Taking your safari in the Lion Sands Private Game Reserve ensures you have an exclusive safari experience devoid of crowds and packed with wildlife including the big five and all of the Kruger Park’s amazing wild animals and birds.

Facilities
Full-board rate includes all meals, local drinks including wines and spirits, refreshments on game drives; two game drives per day and included safari activities; 18 en suite chalets with indoor and outdoor showers, air conditioning and ceiling fans, wooden game viewing deck, mini-bar, telephone, safe; the living area features a lounge, private bar, two swimming pools - one heated for winter swimming.

Activities
Inclusive activities at River Lodge are your morning and evening game drives; stargazing; bush breakfasts and dinners; bush walks; safari lunch in a hide; hippo tour and wildlife presentations. Optional extras include a night under the stars in a treehouse; health spa treatments; ballooning, golf, clay pigeons shooting, helicopter flips, private game drives and visit to the nearby communal village.
